Tere,
kallid sõbrad!
Narva
Lastekodu alustas meie linnas tegevust 35 aastat tagasi – 1966.a. novembris. 2. novembril sel aastal tähistame oma 35. sünnipäeva.
Meie
lastekodus on 65 last: 36 poissi ja 29 tüdrukut. Kõige nooremad
lapsed on 9-aastased, kõige vanemad poisid on peaaegu 18. Meie
lapsed õpivad kahes eri tüüpi koolis: 24 last õpib üldhariduskoolis
ja 32 põhikoolis, 6 last käib pärast põhikooli lõpetamist
erinevates tehnikumides. Meie lastekodus on ainult 9 orbu, 7 last
peaaegu keegi neist pole kunagi töötanud, paljud on istunud
mitmeid aastaid oma kuritegude eest vanglas.
Meie
lastekodus on neli rühma: kahes rühmas on 17 last ja kahes 16.
Me püüame olla
Saame
raha Sotsiaalministeeriumilt, kohalik omavalitsus aitab meil
organiseerida laste suvepuhkust ja annab osa remondiraha.
Aga
meil on lastekodus mõned probleemid:
-
Meie
söökla vajab uusi köögiseadmeid, neid on vaja maitsvate ja
lastele kasulike toitude valmistamiseks, pealegi on meil iga päev
ühe lapse jaoks ainult 20 krooni.
-
Lapsed
vajavad veidi taskuraha, et mõista raha tõelist hinda ja et
neid saaks õpetada raha õigesti kulutama.
-
Vaja
on vabu töökohti, mis garanteeriksid meie lõpetajatele täiskasvanuelus
oma koha leidmise, sest parim võimalus eluga kohanemiseks on
võimetele vastav tulemuslik töö oskustööliste
juhendamisel.
Täname
tähelepanu eest.

Hello,
dear friends!
Narva
Children's Home opened its doors in town some 35 years ago in
November 1966. This year, on the 2nd of November, we'll
celebrate its 35th birthday.
65
children live at our Home, 36 boys and 29 girls, the youngest
being 9 years old and the oldest almost 18. Our children study at
two different types of schools: 24 children study at prep schools
and 32 at standard schools. 6 boys and girls will be going to
different technical secondary schools after graduation from the
standard schools. We only have 9 orphans at our Home, and 7
children were taken away from their mothers, yet without depriving
them of their parental rights. Two girls live here because their
mothers have severe psychological disorders. All the other
children live at our Home because their parents have lost their
parental rights. The most common reason for this is dipsomania,
i.e. they are severe alcoholics, almost all of these parents have
never worked and many of them have spent several years in prison
for criminal activities.
We
have four groups of 16-17 children each at our Home. Each group
lives in seperate housing facilities which consist of a sitting
room where the children play games, watch TV, listen to music,
etc., a study where homework is done, a small teachers' room where
private discussions with individual children are had or where they
also have the opportunity to be alone sometimes for personal
reflection or daydreaming, reading a book or listening to music,
etc. And, of course, we have the children's rooms, each of which
are both a living room and bedroom at the same time.
Two
teachers work with each group, and they all have higher or special
secondary education and lots of relevant work experience. All of
them are caring mothers, trustworthy friends and intelligent
partners. We try to be friends with and trustworthy assistants for
our children. They study well in school, they are fine singers and
dancers, and they make a lot of nice and useful handicraft with
their own hands under the guidance of their teachers. If you saw
their paintings on the walls, and you'd be pleasantly shocked by
their talents and skills.
We
get money from the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the local
authorities help us organize holidays and rest for the children in
summer and give us money for repairs. However, we do have some
problems at our Home:
-
Our
dining room needs new kitchen equipment, as it is necessary
for preparing good and wholesome meals for the children.
What's more is that we only have 20 kroons a day to allocate
for each child.
-
Our
children need some pocket money so that they may learn the
true value of money and how to spend it wisely.
-
We
need some sort of work placement program which would guarantee
jobs for the children who grow up and leave to find their
place in the world as adults. The best way they can adapt and
succeed is through productive work according to their
individual abilities and under the guidance of skilled
workers.
Thank
you very much for your time and attention.
